Frequently asked questions

You might be wondering…

  • So that you can get the support you need in a way that works for you, I offer both in-person and virtual sessions. My office is located in downtown Marlborough, MA. Virtual sessions take place on a HIPAA-compliant platform.

  • I am in-network with commercial plans of the following insurance companies:

    • United Healthcare

    • Mass General Brigham Health Plan

    • Harvard Pilgrim

    • Aetna

I am not in-network with any MassHealth or Medicare plans.

If I am not in-network with your health insurance and your plan offers out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a superbill to submit on your own to get reimbursed. More on this below.

  • Some insurance plans (usually PPOs) offer some reimbursement when seeing a provider that is outside of their network. Here’s how it works: you pay for sessions up front and I provide you with a superbill (basically a receipt) that you submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement. Most often, the reimbursement is for a percentage of the cost.

If you would like to explore this option, I would recommend calling your insurance company to ask about the following:

    1) Does your plan offer out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health/psychotherapy services?

    2) Is there an out-of-network deductible?

    3) What percentage of the cost does the plan cover once the deductible is met?

    4) What is the process like for submitting superbills?

This is not an exhaustive list of questions, but should help you begin the conversation with your insurance plan.

  • Intake $200

    60 minute session $165

    45 minute session $145

  • No. I only provide therapy to adults who are looking to be seen individually.

  • Our first session will feel more a bit more structured than a typical session. You’ll take the lead by sharing more about what’s going on and what you’re hoping to focus on in therapy. I’ll ask follow up questions to make sure we’re on the same page. I’ll also ask some typical “intake” style questions about your current symptoms, history, and goals. If you ever don’t want to answer a question or are wondering why I’m asking it, please let me know!

  • There isn’t a universal answer to this question, and it’s ultimately up to you to decide.

Most people start with weekly sessions and then drop down to biweekly once things start to improve. After that, some people like to continue on a maintenance schedule (maybe every 4-6 weeks or so). Others prefer to end therapy and see how things go on their own.

  • By law, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) from your provider if 1) you don’t have health insurance, or 2) if the provider you plan to see is out-of-network. The GFE is an estimate of expected charges. You have a right to receive one when you schedule an appointment with, or ask for an estimate from, the provider.
